Penetrating sealer for concrete to give a water repellent, invisible finish. Often used as a primer coat prior to Pen-E-Seal for added protection.


Concrete, bricks and natural stone are versatile cost effective construction materials with a serious defect, they are porous. Water and water soluble contaminants can be readily absorbed initiating a process of deterioration, starting with efflorescence, salt damage, mould and mildew, corrosion of steel reinforcing and eventually erosion of the surface.

This is all preventable with the use of Impregnating Sealers, Penetrating Sealers and Surface Sealers, all of which are designed to protect, beautify and enhance the structure whether it is a residence, monument, block of units or a bridge. Sealers will extend the life of these structures and add value as they age beautifully instead of crumbling with erosion.

Pen-E-Seal will maintain the un-sealed look, whilst protecting the surface from water. Pen-E-Seal is fast curing water based sealer and can be used indoors or outdoors, with no unpleasant odours or flammability problems.

How Pen-E-Seal Works:

Pen-E-Seal works by chemically reacting with the concrete or rock using nano-technology developed to create a protective barrier to water. The active component is a molecule consisting of silicon, carbon, hydrogen and oxygen atoms. The molecule has two ends, one hydrophilic the other hydrophobic. When applied, the hydrophilic end reacts with moisture retained in the substrate and breaks away to form another compound that reacts within the masonry lattice. This reaction forms a bond that is stronger than any mechanical or hydrogen bonding of conventional film forming sealers, the exposed hydrophobic end of the molecule changes the surface energy with the result that water is now repelled, but the micro pores are still open enough to allow moisture vapour to escape making the treated surface breathable.


Surface to be treated should be dry and absorbent.
Apply Pen-E-Seal liberally, by spray, flood coat spreading with bristle broom, sponge or roller.
Give whole surface a "wet" look.
Leave for 20 minutes then reapply a second coat whilst still wet.
to dry, water repellency will be evident immediately the surface appears dry, full curing will take 24 hours.

If a more resistant sealer is required to repel oils Pen-E-Guard should be used.
